July 2011 “Stang of the Month”
Don & Lana Smullen’s ‘97 Cobra
In 2000 Ron and Lana went shopping for an SUV to accommodate their dog. Along the way something quite different happened. When Lana saw this cool Cobra she just knew they had to have it. Don, trying to be practical, said “you can’t have it, we just bought a car”. Well sometimes things are just meant to be and Lana was quite determined. She called the dealership, then a taxi and went down and purchased their Cobra. It only had 7,000 miles on it and was in great shape.
Since the purchase they have made modifications along the way to include a BBK cold air intake, Magnaflow exhaust, Bilstein shocks and an aluminum overflow tank. They topped off their cool ride with a set of American Racing wheels.
Don and Lana definitely got it right because the results are quite impressive. They have achieved 9 first places, 8 second places and 1 third place.
They love their Cobra. As for the dog, we’re hoping it’s got a equally cool ride!
